Is there cheaper car insurance for driving only part time?
Is there a car insurance that would cover only part-time drivers a discount? For example, weekend driving alone, or commuting to and from work alone, or Monday and Wednesday alone? I am interested to share the vehicle opportunities. What about insurance for shared vehicles?
Each vehicle is rated with a primary operator. If more companies than vehicles in a household, then each vehcile than an occasional operator assigned. An insurance company uses the higher rated driver – if you have two cars, mom, dad and child, the occasional operator child is usually more expensive than the primary operator mother, so the drivers would he primary father occasionally boy for evaluation. Companies do not judge the "days" or "hours" of the operation, but a vehicle kilometers count – most companies have a discount if a primary operator takes public transport to work (you show bus passes), or if you have less than 5000 miles per year. Shared cars are judged on the most expensive operator.
